Rideshare Program

What is Rideshare?

  • A Rideshare is a minimum of three people sharing a similar commute and riding together in one vehicle.
  • Whether commuting from Waterville to Leavenworth or Wenatchee to Quincy, this program will provide participants the opportunity to get to work in safe, reliable vehicles while saving money, time and benefiting the environment.
  • Link Transit’s Vision 2020 ballot measure included funding for a vanpool/rideshare program.
  • A rideshare program can cost effectively help fill some of these existing transportation gaps outside of our service hours and coverage.
  • This program is designed for those who cannot make use of the regular fixed route buses because of their work schedule, or their home or work locations.

Rideshare Groups

Everyone in the group will start and end their commute in close proximity and work a similar schedule.

Each group will need a:

  • Primary driver
  • Backup driver
  • Bookkeeper (in charge of reports that track miles, fuel usage, and ridership to be submitted once a month)

Link Transit Will Provide

  • Vehicle
  • Fuel (Link Transit will provide each van with one fuel card and a PIN assigned to each driver for fueling; the fuel card may be used at any participating service station)
  • Insurance
  • Maintenance
  • Roadside assistance
  • Guaranteed ride home (taxi reimbursement up to four times a year for qualified reasons)

Rideshare Costs

All groups must start, end in or have at least one passenger located in Link Transit PTBA Boundary (which includes all of Chelan County and the Eastmont, Lake Chelan, Orondo and Waterville School Districts in Douglas County). The monthly per person rate is determined by each individual’s commute.

Rideshare has three different monthly rates:

  • $40 a month if a commute begins within Link Transit’s PTBA boundary and is completely within Chelan and/or Douglas County.
  • $60 a month if a commute includes Douglas County (outside Link Transit’s PTBA boundary), Grant or Okanogan County.
  • $80 a month if a commute includes any other county.

All riders 18 and younger will not have to pay a monthly fee and can ride for free.

Why Rideshare?

  • Allows Link Transit to improve transportation access to the wider community outside of our fixed-route service.
  • More people using fewer vehicles to commute.
  • Provides safe and reliable transportation to the communities we serve and can grow in response to demand.
